(Cocoa: planetarium)

Celestia is a free real-time space simulation that lets you experience our universe in three dimensions. Unlike most planetarium software, Celestia doesn't confine you to the surface of the Earth. You can travel throughout the solar system, to any of over 100,000 stars, or even beyond the galaxy. All travel in Celestia is seamless; the exponential zoom feature lets you explore space across a huge range of scales, from galaxy clusters down to spacecraft only a few meters across. A 'point-and-goto' interface makes it simple to navigate through the universe to the object you want to visit.

(Cocoa: ftp)

RBrowserLite provides access to files on the local host as well as remote FTP Servers with an easy-to-use graphical interface. RBrowserLite provides a uniform interface to file transfer and file related operations, greatly simplifying access and use of files on remote systems scattered across the Internet.

Who is RBrowserLite for? Anybody who needs to use FTP server for downloads, backups, anything. If you work on remote systems or have to move files back and forth often, RBrowserLite can make your life a lot easier.

(Cocoa: typesetting)

TeXShop is a TeX previewer for Mac OS X, written in Cocoa. Since pdf is a native file format on OS X, TeXShop uses "pdftex" and "pdflatex" rather than "tex" and "latex" to typeset; these programs in the standard teTeX distribution of TeX produce pdf output instead of dvi output.

TeXShop uses TeXLive and teTeX, standard distributions of Tex programs for Unix machines. The distributions include tex, latex, dvips, tex fonts, cyrillic fonts, and virtually all other programs and supporting files commonly used in the TeX world.

(Cocoa: archiving)

Fed up with clumsy zip tools that are difficult to use and cost way too much? Well, we were. So we wrote YemuZip and we're sharing it with the rest of the Mac OS X world.

YemuZip is a simple, no-frills, easy-to-use application for making zip files. YemuZip sports Yellow Mug's signature intuitive user interface, and it is free of charge for personal use. For commercial use, we offer a very cost-effective 10-user site license.

YemuZip does not perform unzipping since there are already numerous freely available unzip tools out there.

(Cocoa: screen capture)

SnapNDrag is a simple application that makes screen capture extremely easy. Just click a button to capture and then drag the result off to another application or to the Finder.

(Carbon: planetarium)

Stellarium is free software for rendering 3D photo-realistic skies in real time. With stellarium, you really see what you can see with your eyes, binoculars or a small telescope.

MPj Equinox

(Carbon: astronomy+)

EquinoX is an easy to use shareware astronomy programme for Apple Macintosh computers. It offers many features designed for learning about astronomy as well as for more advanced use by experienced observers. EquinoX allows you to design your own constellations, modify the database, choose different colors, run your webcam and it can even control your telescope with voice commands.

Keith's Image Stacker

(Carbon: stacking)

Keith's Image Stacker is an image processing program that is oriented primarily toward astrophotography. What Keith's Image Stacker provides, more than anything else, is a workspace in which to align many similar images (say from a quicktime movie of Jupiter taken through a telescope with a webcam) and then to produce a stack of the images, which consists of a single image that comprises either the sum, or the average, or some value in between of the individually stacked images. Stacking images is a well-established method for increasing the signal-to-noise ratio in a series of similar images. True "information" will shine through the stack, while random noise will drop out.

Taco HTML Edit

(Cocoa: web pages)

Taco HTML Edit is a full-featured freeware HTML editor. It is designed exclusively for Mac OS X and uses many of the core technologies built into Mac OS X including image transparency (in the image map wizard), toolbars, Webkit (for live previewing), and much more.

(Cocoa: stacking)

AstroYacker is a MacOS X Cocoa Application which aids in the "stacking" and processing of multiple images stored as frames in a QuickTime movie.

BTV Pro Carbon

BTV Pro is an application for the Macintosh that allows you to view, capture and edit video, create stop-motion animations, and also has advanced capture features such as time lapse and motion detection. It works with any Macintosh compatible video input source such as video input cards, TV cards, built-in video, USB, DV, and FireWire video sources. Note that OSX native driver software is needed for your device to use it under OSX.
